Voyage en Grèce: Premières démarches

Octobre 2007 – le voyage ne se fera que dans quelques mois. Les billets sont déjà achetés (avec des points AirMiles). Mais le reste du voyage est toujours en cours de planification.

Nous avons magasiné sur Internet alors qu’auparavant soit nous (mon épouse et moi) partions à l’aventure, sans aucune réservations faites à l’avance, soit nous utilisions les services d’une agence de voyage locale – notre préférence habituelle: la CAA.

Nous avons trouvé quelques agences qui offraient de préparer un voyage par le biais d’Internet: ATB Holidays Inc (Istanbul, Turkie), FANTASY TRAVEL LTD. (Athènes, Grèce) et Dolphin Hellas S.A (Athènes, Grèce).

Dolphin nous dit qu’il est trop tôt pour eux pour nous proposer un voyage. Même chose d’ailleurs pour la CAA – faut voir plutôt vers la fin novembre.

Fantasy Travel nous fait une proposition, mais semble incertain concernant certains passages d’une île à l’autre, en particulier de la Crète à Santorini, avant que les compagnies de traversiers ne publient leurs horaires pour 2008. Aucune date n’est donnée concernant cette publication. Un prix nous est offert. C’est intéressant en général, mais il semble y avoir beaucoup d’incertitudes.

Un dénommé Kemal de ATB Holidays nous fait des propositions rapidement, avec ajustements quand nous les demandons: modifier les hôtels, par exemple, ajouter un séjour sur tell île, un tour à Athènes, etc. Rapide et sans hésitations.

Une recherche sur le web ne révèle rien de négatif sur la compagnie. Au contraire, un commentaire très positif de quelqu’un qui l’aurait essayé en Égype… mais comment savoir si c’est pas écrit par le proprio de ATB Holidays? J’ai trouvé aussi un autre commentaire positif qui semble d’une source différente, américaine… peu mais c’est déjà ça.

J’ai vérifié que cette compagnie était bien inscrite à l’office du tourisme Turque et finalement nous décidons de nous risquer avec eux.

Ils demandent un paiement initial de 30% du montant total au départ et le reste payable au moins 45 jours avant le départ. C’est raisonnable. Il est dit clairement aussi qu’en cours de processus de réservations des hôtels, des traversiers et des avions locaux il pourrait y avoir des modifications nécessaires au projet. Dans ce cas, Kemal m’aviserait et nous en discuterions avant que quoi que ce soit soit fait.

Notre inquiétude principale: nous n’aurons aucun papier d’eux avant de débarquer à Athènes. Enfin… nous envoyons notre premier paiement (environ 1300 euros) par le biais d’une connection sécurisée sur un de leur sites Internet. Le lendemain, notre banque vérifie auprès de nous pour s’assurer que le paiement était bien de nous et non une fraude sur notre carte – après tout, c’est rare qu’on envoie de l’argent en Turquie! Nous confirmons et tout est ok.

Un peu plus tard, je reçois un courriel de notre agent, Kemal, qui demande que le propriétaire de la carte confirme son identité en transmettant une copie du passeport ou du permis de conduire. Oh! là! C’est quoi ça? Je lui explique qu’au Canada les autorités gouvernementales mêmes nous avisent de ne pas faire ce genre de chose vu les problèmes croissant des vols d’identité. Je lui fais remarquer qu’eux ont notre argent et que nous, nous n’avons que des courriels jusqu’à maintenant – et qu’ils (eux de la compagnie) m’ont déjà expliqué qu’ils ne m’enverraient pas de confirmation signée des transactions en plus.

Alors, j’ai écrit à Kemal qu’il n’était pas question que j’envoie des copies de mes documents personnels, quand ils (toujours eux de la compagnie – la secretaire peut-être, quoi) pouvaient téléphoner à Visa pour obtenir la confirmation qu’ils voulaient de l’authenticité de la transaction. D’ailleurs nous avons nous-mêmes téléphoné à Visa pour obtenir leur avis sur la question et ils nous ont assurer qu’ils pouvaient téléphoner sans frais pour faire cette vérification.

Donc, nous resterons sur nos positions et les laisserons annuler leur offre comme ils ont laissé entendre qu’ils pourraient faire si c’est ce qu’ils souhaitent. Dans ce cas, je crois que je reprendrais mes pourparler avec Eleni de Fantasy qui semblait bien aussi après tout.

Situation un peu décevante, mais expérience néammoins intéressante en ce qui concerne les transactions par Internet. J’attends une réponse au plus tard mardi et si je n’ai pas une réponse de Kemal (ATB Holidays) qui me rassure de leur bonne foi, c’est moi qui annule. La suite dans quelques jours donc!

Pass by the Prime’s Ministers residence, Ex Royal Palace, (guarded by colourful Evzones) Zappion (Conference and Exhibition Hall), National Garden, Hadrian’s Arc, St. Paul’s Church, Parliament, Tomb of the Unknown soldier, Schlieman’s House (Nomismatic Museum), Catholic Cathedral, Academy, University, National Library, Old Parliament, Constitution Square ,Russian Orthodox Church, Acropolis (visit Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, Parthenon, Erechtheion and Museum of the Acropolis ). Overnight in Athens.

3.Wednesday – Athens
Free day in Athens. Overnight in Athens.

4.Thursday – Athens
Free day in Athens. Overnight in Athens.

5.Friday – Athens
Free day in Athens. Overnight in Athens.

6.Saturday – Classical Tour of Greece with Meteora, Athens to Olympia
We are passing by OLYMPIC STADIUM to see the Athens 2004 Olympics main venue. We continue for the CORINTH CANAL (short stop). Drive to EPIDAURUS and visit the Ancient theatre, world famous for its outstanding acoustics. Proceed to NAUPLIA (short stop) and through the plain of ARGOS arrive to MYCENAE. Visit the archaeological site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. In the afternoon (optional stop for souvenirs) depart for OLYMPIA, the birth place of the Olympic Games, through the cites of Tripolis and MEGALOPOLIS (short stop). Dinner & Overnight in OLYMPIA.

7.Sunday – Classical Tour of Greece with Meteora, Olympia to Delphi
In the morning visit the archaeological site and the museum of OLYMPIA. Drive via PATRAS to RION, cross the channel to ANTIRION on the « state of the art » new suspended bridge considered to be the longest and most modern in Europe. Pass by the city of NAFPAKTOS and from there on, along the coastal road to DELPHI, known in ancient times as the navel of the world. In the afternoon visit the picturesque mountain village of ARACHOVA. Dinner & Overnight in DELPHI.

8.Monday – Classical Tour of Greece with Meteora, Delphi to Kalambaka

Visit the archaeological site, and, the MUSEUM of Delphi. Depart for KALAMBAKA via Central Greece (short stop by Lamia). Dinner & Overnight in Kalambaka (a small town built at the foot of the majestic grey rocks and crowned by the METEORA Monasteries).

9.Tuesday – Classical Tour of Greece with Meteora, Kalambaka to Athens

In the morning, visit the breathtaking METEORA and in the early afternoon start the drive back to ATHENS passing via THERMOPYLAE (visit) and KAMMENA VOURLA. Arrive in Athens in the evening. Overnight in Athens.

10.Wednesday – Athens to Rhodes

Pick up from the hotel and transfer to the airport to take the flight to Rhodes. Meet at the airport upon your arrival, transfer to your hotel. Free time at leisure to discover the island on your own. Overnight in Rhodes.
11.Thursday – Rhodes
Free day on this princess of the Greek isles with its eternal sunshine and long white sandy beaches and its historic medieval fortress. Overnight in Rhodes.

12.Friday – Rhodes
All day free in Rhodes to discover the island on your own. Overnight in Rhodes.

13.Saturday – Rhodes to Crete (Heraklion)
Pick-up from your hotel, transfer to airport to take the flight to Crete. Arrive Crete, meet at the airport, transfer to hotel. Time at leisure. Overnight in Crete.

14.Sunday – Crete (Heraklion)
Full day free on the largest island in Greece, with its superb museums and renowned archeological sites, charming villages, numerous sandy beaches, lively night-life and exquisite cuisine. Overnight in Crete.

15.Monday – Crete (Heraklion)
All day free in Crete to discover the island on your own. Overnight in Crete.

16.Tuesday – Crete (Chania)
Pick up from your hotel in Heraklion and transfer to Chania. Overnight in Crete.

17.Wednesday – Crete (Chania)
Free day at leisure. Overnight in Crete.

18.Thursday – Crete (Chania)

19.Friday – Crete to Santorini

22.Monday – Naxos
All day free on this interesting island to explore its pristine, undiscovered beauty and hidden villages nestled among rolling hills and enjoy its culture, traditional cuisine and numerous sandy beaches. Overnight in Naxos.

23.Tuesday – Naxos to Mykonos
Pick-up from hotel and transfer to the port to take the boat to Mykonos. Arrive Mykonos, meet at the port and transfer to your hotel. Time at leisure, overnight in Mykonos.

24.Wednesday – Mykonos
All day free in Mykonos to discover the island on your own. Overnight in Mykonos.

25.Thursday – Half Day Delos Island Tour

Meet at the port of Mykonos. A short boat trip to Delos Island. Visiting the sights and ruins of the place where God Delos was born according to Myth. After visits, sail back to Mykonos.. Overnight in Mykonos.

26.Friday – Mykonos to Athens
Pick-up from hotel and transfer to the airport to take the flight to Athens. Overnight in Athens. (No transfers as the hotel is at the airport)

27.Saturday – End of our services
